North Bay Film Festival Details Weekend Events: Cinema Social, Career Insights, and Director Q&A Sessions
[Thursday, November 16th] The North Bay Film Festival is set to captivate audiences with a weekend filled with cinematic delights, insightful discussions, and networking opportunities. Highlighting the festival are exclusive Q&A sessions with directors and engaging events that bring together film enthusiasts, creators, and industry professionals.
Director Q&A Sessions:
Saturday, November 18th at 4:00 pm – “Blooms” with Director Jordan Vandenberg. Explore the history of Cobalt, Ontario, from its silver boomtown days to the decline in the 1930s and the final closure of mines in the 1990s. Post-screening, Director Jordan Vandenberg will share insights and take questions from the audience.
Sunday, November 19th at 4:30 pm – “The Boy in the Woods” with Director Rebecca Snow. Shot on location in North Bay, this compelling tale of survival during World War II follows the true story of Max, a Jewish boy escaping Nazi persecution. Director Rebecca Snow will engage in a post-screening Q&A session, providing deeper insights into Max’s journey.
Cinema Social at North Bay Film Festival:
Following the “Blooms” screening and Q&A on Saturday, November 18th, attendees are invited to the Cinema Social from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Hosted in collaboration with the City of North Bay and the Near North Mobile Media Lab, this vibrant event brings together cinephiles, filmmakers, and the local community for an unforgettable evening to discuss all things film.
Free Career Insights Panel – Sunday, November 19th at 2:45 pm: “Northern Stars: Navigating Film Careers in North Bay”:
The festival is offering a free, thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Northern Stars: Navigating Film Careers in North Bay.” This panel delves into the multifaceted world of the film industry, featuring esteemed professionals such as Jodie Wiebe, Lieann Koivukoski, Ben Farella, and Mitch Ouimette. The panelists will share their personal journeys, experiences, and invaluable insights into building fulfilling careers in film.
