The North Bay Film Festival returns for its ninth installment from November 15-17, 2024 at the historic Capitol Centre Theatre in downtown North Bay. This year, we’re excited to announce that we will be opening our Call for Submissions one month earlier than usual on June 1st, 2024, in order to give filmmakers an extended opportunity to showcase their work.

Please note* that we have updated our submission deadlines and fees this year. This year’s Early Bird deadline will be July 1st, 2024, with a submission fee of $5. Following that, the Regular deadline is set for August 1st, 2024, with a fee of $15. The Final Deadline is September 1st, 2024, with the submission fee set at $25.

All student submissions will continue to be free, ensuring that emerging talents have the opportunity to participate without financial barriers. 

We will be accepting film submissions for Canadian Short Films and Student Short Films via FilmFreeway. Submit your film and join us in celebrating the art of short filmmaking at the North Bay Film Festival 2024!

2024 Submissions open June 1st, 2024
Earlybird Deadline: July 1st, 2024
Regular Deadline: August 1st, 2024
Final Deadline: September 1st, 2024

Canadian Shorts:

– Deadline Fees: Earlybird – $5CAD  |  Regular – $15CAD  |  Final – $25CAD
– Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents of Canada, or graduates of Canadian film programs
– Films 10 mins or less in duration, produced in 2023 or 2024
– Priority consideration will be given to films with closed captioning

Canadian Student Showcase:

– Deadline Fees: Earlybird: Free | Regular: Free
– Students currently attending a secondary or post-secondary institution in Canada
– Films 10 mins or less in duration, produced in 2023 or 2024

*All submission fees collected go to paying a jury of northern Ontario filmmakers and artists for their time.
