North Bay Film Festival Invites Filmmakers to Celebrate 10th Anniversary with Short Film Submissions Starting June 1, 2025

[North Bay, ON, May 26th, 2025] — The North Bay Film Festival is excited to announce that short film submissions for its 10th edition will officially open on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, via FilmFreeway.

2025 marks a major milestone for the festival, and we’re inviting filmmakers from across Canada to help us celebrate a decade of cinematic storytelling, creativity, and community in North Bay. Whether you’re an emerging voice in Canadian cinema or an established filmmaker, we want you to be part of our 10th annual festival at the historic Capitol Centre in downtown North Bay this November 13-16.

We accept short films of all genres up to 10 minutes in length, with a special focus on works from independent creators, emerging artists, and underrepresented voices in film. Selected filmmakers will receive a screening fee and be invited to participate in Q&As and industry events during the festival. In celebration of our 10th anniversary, the winner of Best Canadian Short will also be featured in a special curated program showcasing the best short films from the last decade of the North Bay Film Festival.

Submission Categories & Fees

🇨🇦 Canadian Shorts

• Eligibility: Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or graduates of Canadian film programs
• Duration: 10 minutes or less, produced in 2024 or 2025
• Fees: Early Bird – $10 CAD | Regular – $20 CAD | Final – $30 CAD

🎓 Student Showcase

• Eligibility: Students currently enrolled in a Canadian secondary or post-secondary institution
• Duration: 10 minutes or less, produced in 2024 or 2025
• Fees: Free at all deadlines

📅 Important Dates

• Early Bird Deadline: July 1st, 2025
• Regular Deadline: August 16th, 2025
• Final Deadline: September 7th, 2025
• Note: Priority consideration will be given to films with closed captioning.
